Snowbird RV Prep Checklist for the Treasure Coast

Thousands of RV owners head to Florida's Treasure Coast each fall. Whether you are parking at a resort in Port St. Lucie, a campground near Stuart, or a storage lot in Fort Pierce, a pre-arrival inspection saves headaches during peak season.

Before You Leave Home

• Confirm tire age, tread, and pressure (including spare)
• Test brakes and battery charge on tow vehicle or motorhome chassis
• Verify registration, insurance, and campground reservation details
• Pack Florida-appropriate supplies: extra water, sun shade, surge protector

At Arrival — Systems to Check First

Rooftop A/C

Run each A/C zone for 15–20 minutes. Cooling should be steady — not cycling every few minutes. Weak airflow often means dirty filters or duct issues.

Roof Seals and Vents

Florida sun and rain punish lap sealant. Look for cracks around vents, antennas, and skylights. Small gaps become leaks fast during afternoon storms.

Electrical

Test GFCI outlets, converter/charger output, and shore power connection. Low voltage at busy parks is common — a quality surge protector helps protect appliances.

Plumbing

Pressurize the system and check under sinks and the water heater area for drips. Run hot and cold at each fixture.

Slide-Outs and Leveling

Cycle slide-outs slowly and listen for binding. Re-level after slides are out — many issues show up only when fully set up.
